Prep Enrolments 2023


Dear Parents / Guardians,

 

Our 'Expression of Interest' for Prep 2023, closed on Friday 24th June.
 

All families who completed the EOI form, should have now recieved a 'letter of offerOR 'letter of no offer' for enrolment from Tuesday 26th of July, by post.

 

If you did not complete the expression of interest, and are living within the designated neighbourhood school zone (see below) and would like to enrol for Prep 2023, please contact the school office ASAP on 5995 7139.

PLEASE REMEMBER
: We are a designated neighbourhood school zone, find my school, and are often at capacity with students who reside in our designated zone.

 

If you are out of zone, we encourage you to complete the expression of interest at your designated school, as we can not guarantee you a position.

Letter of Offer (enrolment information) DUE back at school.

  • Monday 22nd August to Friday 9th September

Early Years Evaluation (EYE) student assessment

 

You would have already received information to make a booking for your child through Compass.

 

  • Friday 14th October to 4th November

Kinder Transition Sessions

 

Your child will be given a time to attend for 50 minutes on the two dates. These sessions are for your child to become familiar with the classroom and school environment.

 

You will receive a Compass email on the dates to attend.

 

  • Thursday 24th November, 6.00 - 7.00pm

 

Prep Information Night

 

Information for parents who have enrolled their child for 2023, with lots of information about the prep year.

 

This is in the school gym - Please enter through Rosebank Drive, gate 4.

 

  • Tuesday 13th December, 9.30 - 10.30am

 

Orientation Morning

 

Your child will meet their next year’s teacher and other class mates in your designated classroom.

 

Please meet with your child in the school gym at 9.15am. Please note your child’s class by finding their name on the class lists - at school gate and on the board inside the gym.

 

The prep teachers will take each class to the classrooms. You will collect your child from outside the classroom as directed by school staff.

 

Parents will receive information about being a parent helper and the Parents’ Association.

Prep early years literacy and numeracy assessment

 

These 5 days are allocated for your child’s individual assessment with his/her teacher.

 

You will get information to book these on the Orientation Morning, on the 13th December, 2022.

 

  • Monday 6th February, 2023

First Day of School 2023 for Preps

 

Please note staggered start time:

 

If your child’s LAST NAME starts with A - H, please arrive at 9.20 am.

 

If your child’s LAST NAME starts with I - O. please arrive at 9.40 am.

 

If your child’s LAST NAME starts with P - Z, please arrive at 10.00am.

 

The school day finishes at 3.30pm.

 

Note, the Wednesday of this week (8th February), is an early years literacy and numeracy assessment day.

Designated Neighbourhood School

Our school zone is available on Findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones.

 

Students residing in this zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address (proof of residence is required).

 

The Department provides guidance through the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and the freedom to choose other schools, subject to facility limitations.

Eligibility for Prep 2023

To start primary school your child will need to turn five years old by 30 April, 2023. Your child must be at school in the year that they turn six years of age. This is the compulsory school starting age in Victoria.

 

Specific concerns about enrolling your child

If you have specific concerns about enrolling your child, for example a child with special needs/disability, please ensure you include these details in the comments section on the expression of interest form.

 

If you forget to include these details on the expression of interest form please email the school, courtenay.gardens.ps@education.vic.gov.au, with the subject 'Prep 2023 Expression of Interest', your child's name and the specific concern/s.
