School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Program (SWPBS) assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people. When SWPBS is implemented well, teachers and students have more time to focus on relationships and classroom instruction.
Students strive to be Courtenay Gardens STARS by demonstrating our school values of Safety, Trust, Acceptance, Respect and Success! These values and expected behaviours are explicitly addressed during wellbeing sessions and displayed in the Matrix of Expectations. The students are recognised through a school reward system and when they display these behaviours in and out of the classroom they will be recognised at assemblies.
Our STARS Values Certificates
Our STARS Mascot
Meet Steve McStar, boss of our Values and named by one of our very own students! You will see him around the school more and more. Steve McStar is on our Values certificates and most of our posters around the school. He does a great job helping our students remember our school values.
CGPS STAR Expectations Matrix
Our CGPS STAR Expectation Matrix provides explicit examples of how expected behaviours and values look in different areas of the school. When we want students to learn a new maths concept, we teach them and behaviour and values are no different. If we expect students to behave or act in a specific manner we need to teach them. The matrix is broken down into different locations to be explicitly taught to our students.
