As per our calendar, below is a more detailed description of school events.
Regarding photography/video, parents/carers can photograph or film their child for personal use. If other students are in the image, you cannot publish in any form, including social media, without the prior consent of those students’ parents.
House Sports
Students represent their houses and work their way through a variety of tailor made events for each age group. We split the school into three groups: Grade 1 & 2, Grade 3 & 4 and Grade 5 & 6, focussing on fun, participation and for the older students the opportunity to represent C.G.P.S. in the Athletics squad.
Cross Country
Students from Grades 4, 5 and 6 test their aerobic and endurance by running a course set around the school, earning house points for simply participating. The top 10 from each age group then have the chance to represent C.G.P.S. at the District Cross-Country meet.
Harmony Day
Harmony Day celebrates a sense of belonging, respect, and inclusion. It brings people together to reflect, discuss, and acknowledge everyone's identity and inclusivity.
We encourage all students to dress in clothing/accessories that represent their culture. This may include, traditional outfits or countries colours. If they don't have anything, we encourage them to wear orange in support for harmony. We usually hold a whole school parade on the basketball courts (weather permitting) at 9.05am and always extend the invitation to all families who would like to attend, possibly in their own cultural clothing.
We often organise incursions to celebrate a culture. In 2023, we will participate in workshops hosted by Jungle City Projects where they learnt about African Hip Hop, Dancehall and Afro dance styles. We look forward to celebrating all the amazing cultures at CGPS!
End of Year Concert
Our end of year concert brings the community together to celebrate the year.
Classes are paired up, choose a song and a theme, practise, practise, practise and perform on the night. The song is not necessarily Christmas themed either, although we do have a visit from a special guest!
The Parents’ Association run a Sausage Sizzle/drinks stand and we have had a coffee van and ice-cream providerd.
Students should come dressed as directed by their class teacher. Students will be supervised by teachers during the concert and for their performance and to maintain the audience numbers, students will be dismissed to parents at the end of the concert.
